UNION, NJ, – Starbucks, CVS Pharmacy, and &pizza have signed leases at the new Shoppes at Vermella on Morris Avenue across from Kean University, according to Russo Development.

The Shoppes at Vermella are 82% leased, with a Chipotle Mexican Grill and Panera Bread already open at the 42-acre mixed-use community, Russo Development said. According to Wikipedia, &pizza is a fast casual pizza restaurant chain with locations along the east coast. The restaurant sells personal and customizable oblong-shaped pizzas.

“The Shoppes at Vermella are one element of our strategy to create a destination for our residents, the local business community as well as our neighbors in Union and at Kean University,” said Michael Pembroke, COO of Russo Development. “Vermella Union’s mixed-use component, luxury apartment homes, resort-style amenities and proximity to transit have already been well-received and we look forward to sharing the completed community.”

The leasing office at Vermella Union has begun showing apartments for the first phase of rentals. According to Russo Development, at full build-out, Vermella Union’s campus-style community will include “over 1,250 luxury apartments, a 25,000 sq. ft. clubhouse, state-of-the-art fitness centers, resort-style pool, outdoor lounge and dining areas, expansive roof deck, business center, demonstration kitchen, multi-sport sports simulator and game room, screening room, children’s playroom and convenient package concierge.”

Vermella Union consists of studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom modern apartments with “gourmet kitchens with full-size stainless-steel appliances, in-unit washer and dryers, spacious closets and spa-like bathrooms featuring matte stone”, according to Russo Development.
